ORA/EOU Community Garden

Thought I would pass this information along. Programs like these are great additions to our community and need support.
Join in on Saturday March 6th @ 10am for 2010’s first Community Garden work party. This year the La Grande Community Garden, which is a partnership between ORA and EOU, starts its third season! The garden is expanding this year to accommodate many more gardeners and we need your help to do so! Many hands make light work. If you have an hour or two to help us clean up the garden and get it ready for the garden season, we would love your help. Head Start staff is providing snacks, but you should bring your gloves, tools (if you can), and a lunch. This is going to be FUN!

The garden is located by Head Start and Candy Cane Park off 12th St between I and H Ave.

Thanks for the post, Chris! We had a fantastic turnout on a beautiful sunny day, and with around 30 people the work went fast! We’d planned to be there until 2pm, but everyone pitched in an we got it done by 11:30! Goes to show the power of community.

The La Grande Main Street Program is working to revitalize our downtown using the tried and true Main Street Approach. This is a comprehensive means to rebuild a healthy downtown by addressing the economic challenges facing downtown, beautifying and restoring the historic heart of our community and promoting the downtown with fun events and quality marketing.
