Over the last year there has been a considerable amount of “close calls” on the intersection of Washington and Depot street in downtown La Grande, Oregon. From efforts made be La Grande Main Street, concerned citizens and the City of La Grande public works has installed 2 new stops signs making the intersection a 4-WAY STOP.

August 20 & 21 plan to take to the streets in Historic Downtown La Grande, Oregon to join in a slew of great events celebrating the arts and culture in our great community. The 50th Annual Crazy Days event will be in Downtown La Grande starting Friday July 9th thru Saturday, July 10. This year the event will take on a new flavor celebrating our pioneer heritage with an Oregon Trail theme. Crazy Days has been around for a long time and has become one of the biggest traditions among merchants downtown. The event draws one of the largest amounts of the community members to most of the Historic Downtown of La Grande.

…end the day with live music by Al MacLeod and friends, fire truck rides and FIREWORKS at the EOU Community Stadium. Fireworks begin at twilight, so be sure and come early to enjoy the days events. Don’t forget to bring a blanket and picnic basket, then sit back and enjoy the show of brilliant bursting colors overhead.

A new coffee house is opening in La Grande this Saturday, and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s called White House Coffee and it’s (you guessed it) in the big white house at 1702 Fourth Street.

La Grande residents came together to meet with Oregon’s nominee for Governor in 2010, John A. Kitzhaber. The event was very well attended even though the meeting was added to the former Governors’ schedule at the last minute.
